Company should have session to keep employee creative

I've come to write this post after the some English classes I've learned so far. The classes have been really interesting, especially for me. Of course it's not always exciting as we have to overcome some challenge in the course, but we can find interesting thing during the class and have something useful to bring back after each session.


Don't get me wrong, i'm not intended to introduce you about the Business English classes offered by @KTDC Group. What I intended to write about is "something" that I get during the time in class. Besides the insight in English, the thing make me interested in this class is the environment that we have. It's creative environment, the environment that I can express my feeling freely, generate new idea in a funny way without worrying about judgement. Last Tuesday, we have some discussion to generate new idea to improve business process by applying "creative productive team" model invented by Walt Disney.
According to that model, a productive team should comprise 3 type of people: the dreamer, the realist and the critic. You may already know their characteristic based on the name. First, the dreamer will suggest the idea; then the realist will based on the situation to find out how to realized the idea into product. The critic, not popular but play an important, will point out what's not OK with the idea. You can find out more here.
In our case, we have some kind of psycho test to know which type of person we are. Then we were divided into groups, comprise 3 types of people. Then we try to generate a new idea and discuss whether it is feasible or not.
After that activities, I get that generating new idea is not that difficult, as long as we try to think about it.
However, you'll need a creative environment to boost your creativity. In an open and relaxing conversion, you will feel free to speak up your idea, rather than following your boss' command without questioning. This is one important factor where country like Israel became a Start-up nation, the only country where team member can challenge their leader, even replace him/her.
Creative is some kind of emotion like happy or sadness, which can be spread.
Firstly, the creative can be spread from the office you daily work with. Instead of boring cell-to-cell desk office, Google has made their office outstanding to encourage creativity.
Secondly, creative can be spread from people around you. You work with enthusiastic people, you will get enthusiasm from them. It apply to creative as well. Talking to new idea to open people, they will encourage you. But beware not to talk about new thing to everyone, many people would think your idea is nothing new and ignore it. So keep thinking, but not always talking.
Last but not least, the activity you take part in influence the most to your creative. Come back to my example, we had an interesting activity during class, so we can think of new ideas easily. I must admit that I rarely think about new idea while working. As you know, the task in Outsourcing company mostly about follow procedure, which involve no creative.
Hence, if your company want the associate to think about new idea, try to change the above 3 factors. It's difficult to change the first & second one, which would take time and budget. But the third one is feasible in a short time. And that's the title of this article about:
Creating more interesting session for your employee to express their new idea.
It does not mean that you need big activities, big slogan like "innovation activities". We can try to "start small" first. Begin with some small workshop, class about creative, generating ideas. In the early phase, the activities's objectives is to implant the creative into a few associate. From these people, the creative will spread to other. Keep growing with the time, associate in company will understand the importance of creative & generate more ideas to improve the working environment. Furthermore, I believe creative people will attract more creative people to work in your company. :)
